Ingredients of a PMO Dashboard
For me, PMO Dashboard should be one source of key information about a programme. It should cater to senior management as well as the programme members. For a effective PMO Dashboard, I am listing down the following ingredients. Key Contacts details of the programme Programme manager details Programme Sponsor details PMO contact details. It should have email ids, phone numbers. Programme Summary details Link to Programme Brief Start date / end date % complete Current Status of the programme (Red/Amber/Green) Cost summary (budget/actual/ETC) Programme Related Links Link to Programme Timeline Chart Link to Programme Org Chart Link to Programme schedule Link to Programme Milestone Tracker Link to Programme vacation planner Link to programme deliverables Link to programme change requests. List of projects in the programme Project Name Project Manage Name and Contact details Project Status (Red/Amber/Green) Links to project status report, Risk/issues/assumptions/dependencies/action (ARIDA) log Links to Templates PMO Templates like project charter, project plan, status report Deliverable templates (like high level design, low level design, functional specification template) Minutes of meeting template Programme presentation template. Thank you for the post. I like the list of key slides!
Two questions:
Where are Quality metrics: # of defects prior to the end-game, test pass rates, etc, reflected?
How do you respond to senior management pushing for more detail? Do you add more slides or put slides as background slides at the end of the pack?
Probably we can add a section which can list test result summary for the programme like # of critical/medium/low level of defects.
Dashboard is a one page view of the programme and not executive/steering group reporting, where if we can park the detail slides after the Thank You Slide and can discuss with whoever interested to discuss.
