We can define software methodology as a framework which is used to structure, plan and execute software development or projects. In industry, there are many software methodologies in practice for e.g., waterfall methodology, iterative methodology, scrum / agile methodology. There is no thumb rule that one particular software methodology can be applied to all types of projects. It is based on various factors. Determining which software methodology to apply to which type of project will definitely decide the success of the project. In one of the project of my programme, it was earlier decided to use concurrent engineering methodology which later proved to be a wrong decision and then we switched to waterfall methodology.
