Can Anyone Give Me Sample Of Project Plan Document Or Its Template For Developing A Software Tool?

I am developing an automation tool called Attendance tracker in MS Access using VBA. So I need a project plan for this project which I can present to my supervisors.
Please guide me for preparing a project plan in word document or provide me the list of websites which helps in this regard.
All I need is the template or the skeleton of a project plan(eg., categories which should be mandatory in any project plan document like purpose, scope etc).
Thanks.

A typical project plan will have many mandatory categories such as Management, Planning and Control, Technical, Work Schedule and Budget, Support Plans, Interaction with Existing Plans, etc. etc. And each of these major categories will include numerous sub-categories. In Management for example, some of the sub-cats would include Project Lifecycle, Project Organization, Roles and Responsibilities, Resource Loading Chart, Problem Escalation, Reporting, etc.
Here are a few sample project plans that may give you some additional ideas.http://www.klariti.com/templates/Project…http://www.projectperfect.com.au/pa_fun_…
I also checked sourceforge.net (a hosting site for open source - free - software and found these templates:http://jdbv.sourceforge.net/RUP.htmlhttp://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_s… >another 28,000 possibilities

Thanks for this - I really enjoyed the article and a good deal of the information here I can certainly make use of. Being an avid woodworker myself with a few years of experience under my belt you can never stop learning new things. My skill level is nowhere near what I would like it to be although it is true that practice does indeed make perfect! I have a small wood shop which I spend many hours crafting various home objects - my current project is a pine cabinet with single door, which is coming along nicely. I am using these new Wood Working Plans which have helped me immensely in terms of getting things right first time. I am aware many woodworkers use these plans, since they are simple yet detailed in their instruction - has anyone here tried them? I would be interested to see how others had got on with them, and whether they find them as pleasurable to deal with as I have?
